Early Childhood Educator, Artist, and Advocate of Play Based Learning
Hello Everyone! Thank you for taking the time to visit; I'm so excited to meet you! After more than 10 years working in Education and Child Development Administration, I am thrilled to be able to bring my passions for early education, play based learning, and the beautiful outdoors together in serving our community through Wild Roots Outdoor Play! I believe that children are filled with ideas and rich possibility, each one unique and competent in their own right. As a lifelong educator, I see my role as a facilitator more than a teacher. My role is to provide tools, space, and time along with joyful guidance, fostering your child's natural sense of wonder and allowing them to be the protagonist of their own learning story! I aim to offer nature based, sensory rich, and play based learning experiences for young children an their caregivers, and LOVE to see how each experience unfolds as each child brings their unique ideas and perspective.
I'm a California native and grew up in the mountains, rivers, and lakes of California's Central Valley. After many years in San Diego and a brief moment in Arizona's desert landscape, I relocated to North Carolina and fell in love with the forests, creeks, and lush greenery! In my free time, I am a true creative and lover of (almost) all things outdoors: You can find me hiking, gazing at the clouds and through the tree tops, bird watching, taking photos, ditching my shoes and wading in the creek, or snoozing in the sun! When indoors, I love to paint (you can view my art at www.amywarcholart.etsy.com) play piano, read, and cook up tasty treats for my husband and our family.
My favorite quote pertaining to early education comes from the inspirational Loris Malaguzzi, founder of the Reggio Emilio Approach in Reggio Emilia Italy:
